Christmas 2023 at St Philips

Everyone is warmly invited to join the celebrations at St Philip's this Christmas. Come with your friends and family for Christmas carols and other acts of worship.

Saturday 9 December 5pm Carols under the Stars

Our ever-popular open air carol service is back again this year! Join us as we sing those well-known Christmas Carols outside St Philips Church. Warm yourself round our fires,and join us in a free cup of mulled wine. Why not bring some marshmallows to toast whilst we start the Christmas season with song?

Sunday 17 December 6pm Carols by Candlelight 

Our Sunday Choral Evensong choir, under the direction of Mr Sam Bardsley, will be leading us in this traditional service of nine lessons and carols. A great service if you like traditional choral music and a traditional service structure enjoyed with mulled wine and mince pies.

Christmas Eve 3pm Christingle Service

Join us for our informal all-age Christingle Service. A super service for those with children and a great way to start the family festivities. 

Christmas Day 11pm Carol Singing & Midnight Mass

St Philip's will be open from 11pm. Come on in as we carol sing. Then as the clock strikes midnight, Join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with our traditional candlelit Sung Mass of Midnight.  

Christmas Day 10:30am Mass of the Day

As the world celebrates the birth of Christ, join us for a celebration of Mass with carols on Christmas Day .

Monday 1 January 10am Mary, Mother of God

For the Church, our "New Year" started on the first Sunday of Advent. On this New Year's Day we remember Mary's unique role as mother of Our Lord. We ask for her prayers as we begin 2024.
